WolfChat

Terms of Service and Community Guidelines

Document version 1.0 · Effective from 7 September 2026
Applies to the WolfChat Android app and web client.

Short summary. WolfChat is a messaging channel between you and the service team you deal with. You sign up yourself. Registration is gated by an anti-bot challenge. Passwords must be at least 15 characters. Minimum age is 18, self-declared through a checkbox you must tick before registration can proceed. Conversations are not end-to-end encrypted, so our server and authorised staff can read them. There is a list of prohibited content; messages that break the rules can be rejected, and accounts that break the rules can be terminated.

This summary is for convenience only. The full text below is what binds.

1. Who provides the service

WolfChat is provided by PT Prima Sentra Digital Solusi, a limited liability company incorporated under the laws of the Republic of Indonesia and domiciled in Jakarta Utara. In this document, "we" means that provider and "you" means the person using WolfChat.

The provider is a legal entity in the form of a limited liability company. The app store listing name is WolfChat Messenger.

2. Your agreement

By signing in to WolfChat or using it, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, including the Community Guidelines in section 6. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Our Privacy Policy explains what data is processed and how. It forms part of these terms.

3. Who may use WolfChat

4. Your account and its security

5. Your conversations are not end-to-end encrypted

Read this section before you write anything in WolfChat.

WolfChat v1 does not use end-to-end encryption (E2EE). The connection between the app and our server is protected by TLS. But because there is no E2EE, our server can read the contents of your messages, and staff we authorise can read service conversations for support, moderation, security, audit, and service-quality review.

Service conversations may also be read by quality (QA) evaluators who assess how well staff replied. When a conversation is assessed, the customer messages in that conversation are read too.

Notifications on Android are delivered through Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging, so some notification data passes through Google's infrastructure. The details are in the Privacy Policy.

So: do not use WolfChat for information that must not be accessible to the service operator. Do not send passwords, PINs, one-time codes, card details, or other secrets you would not entrust to us.

6. Community Guidelines: what is prohibited

These Community Guidelines are part of the Terms of Service. They apply to everything you send through WolfChat: text messages, images, video, files, voice notes, links, display names, profile pictures, and group names.

6.1 Prohibited content

Strictly prohibited, and grounds for immediate termination:

You must also not send, upload, or share:

6.2 Prohibited behaviour

7. Automatic filtering and rejected messages

You agree that the text of the messages you send may be checked automatically by our systems to enforce the Community Guidelines above — and that a message detected as breaking those rules may be rejected, so that it is never delivered.

What is NOT checked automatically today: the contents of attached files (images, video, audio, documents), display names, and group names. All three remain subject to the Community Guidelines and can still be acted on after a report — only the automatic filtering does not apply to them.

The sentence above previously said attachments, display names, and group names were also checked automatically. It was narrowed on 7 September 2026 to match what the system actually does. If the scope is widened later, this sentence is widened in the same release.

Beyond automatic checks, authorised staff may review the contents of a conversation when there is a report, a suspected violation, a legal obligation, or a security need.

Automatic checking is not perfect. It can wrongly reject a message that breaks no rule, and it can miss one that does. If your message is rejected and you believe that is a mistake, write to abuse@wolfchat.id and we will review it.

We also apply reasonable technical limits — such as file size limits and message rate limits — to keep the service healthy.

8. Reporting abuse and blocking users

Reporting

We aim to review every report within 24 hours of receiving it and to take appropriate action — including removing content and terminating the offending account.

Blocking

You can block another user from the app settings. Once blocked, that person's messages no longer reach you. To be honest about what this does: blocking works by telling the server to stop delivering that person's messages to you — the messages they send still reach the server and are still stored there under the applicable retention schedule, they are simply never passed on to you. Messages you already received before blocking stay in your conversation.

Blocking and reporting are different. Blocking stops that person's messages being delivered to you; reporting tells us, so that we can act.

9. Consequences of breaking the rules

If you break these terms, we may take one or more of the following actions, depending on the severity and history of the breach:

  1. Warning. We tell you what was wrong and ask you to stop.
  2. Content removal. The offending message, attachment, display name, or group name is removed or rejected.
  3. Restriction. Some functions are limited temporarily, for example the ability to send attachments.
  4. Suspension. The account is deactivated temporarily and active sessions are revoked. We record the reason.
  5. Termination. The account is closed permanently.

For serious breaches — in particular child sexual exploitation material, credible threats of violence, or attacks on our systems — we may terminate the account immediately without a prior warning, and report it to law enforcement where the law requires or permits us to do so.

If you believe our action was wrong, you can appeal to abuse@wolfchat.id. Include your username and your explanation. We review appeals and reply.

10. Your content and intellectual property

Your content stays yours

The messages, images, files, and voice recordings you send remain yours. We do not claim ownership of them, we do not sell them, and we do not use them for advertising.

So that the service can work, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, revocable licence to store, copy, transmit, display, back up, and reformat your content — solely to operate, secure, moderate, audit, and quality-review this service. This licence is no broader than those purposes require, and it ends when your content is deleted from our systems, except for backup copies still within their retention window and copies we are required by law to keep.

Ours and other people's

The name WolfChat, the wolf emblem, the wordmark, and the visual identity of this service are ours. Do not use them for another product, and do not use them in a way that makes people think you are us.

The software itself is open source — see section 12.

Copyright complaints

If you own rights and find your work shared on WolfChat without permission, send a notice to abuse@wolfchat.id including: what the work is, evidence that you are the owner or their agent, where it appears, and how to contact you. We review it and, if substantiated, remove it.

11. Storage, deletion, and technical limits

12. Open source software and attribution

WolfChat is a derivative work of FluffyChat, an open source Matrix client.

Source code offer (AGPL section 13)

Because we run the WolfChat web client for you over a network, AGPL section 13 requires us to offer the source code of the version you actually run. We offer it to all WolfChat users, at no charge beyond the cost of copying, if any:

We do not claim the upstream code as our own, and we do not remove the legal notices of its original authors.

13. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is". We work to keep WolfChat running and secure, but we do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, or that every message will be delivered on time. Maintenance, network outages, and device failures happen.

Do not use WolfChat for emergencies. It is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call your local emergency number or emergency services.

We are not responsible for the content of messages sent by other users, for decisions you make based on the contents of a conversation, for third-party services outside our control, or for loss arising because you shared credentials or other sensitive data through a channel we have plainly told you is not end-to-end encrypted in section 5.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, our liability is limited to direct loss that is actually proven, and we are not liable for indirect loss, lost profits, lost data, or loss that could not reasonably have been foreseen. Nothing in these terms limits liability that Indonesian law does not allow to be limited.

Fees. Your WolfChat account is provided to you at no charge. If a charge is ever introduced, we will tell you in advance and you are free to stop using the service.

We may change or discontinue the service. If we discontinue WolfChat, we will try to tell you beforehand through the app or the available contact channels, with reasonable notice.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update this document, for example because features change, the law changes, or we find wording that needs to be clearer.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia.

If there is a dispute, contact us first at abuse@wolfchat.id. Most matters are resolved at that stage. If no resolution is reached within a reasonable time, the dispute is to be settled by the competent courts of Indonesia, namely the Pengadilan Negeri Jakarta Utara.

If a court finds any part of this document unenforceable, the rest remains in force.

16. Which language prevails

This document exists in Indonesian and English. If the two versions are interpreted differently, the Indonesian version prevails. The English version is provided for convenience.
